Tacoma stands as the second-largest city in the Puget Sound area, the third-largest in the state, and the seat of government of Pierce County.
Tacoma adopted its name after the nearby Mount Rainier, which was originally called Mount Tacoma. It is known as the "City of Destiny" because the area was chosen to be the site of the western terminus of the Northern Pacific Railroad in the late 1800s. The decision of the railroad was influenced in part because of Tacoma's neighboring Commencement Bay. By connecting the bay with the railroad Tacoma’s motto became “When rails meet sails.” Today Commencement Bay serves the Port of Tacoma, a major player in international trade on the Pacific Coast. Foreclosure intervention workshop scheduled July 25 In an effort to help residents in Tacoma and Pierce County who are facing potential foreclosure of their homes, the City will host a foreclosure intervention workshop. The workshop is intended to educate homeowners about the options that are available to help, the foreclosure process, income tax issues in foreclosure, safe refinance products and more.
The workshop will be held July 25, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., at Evergreen College, Tacoma Campus (1210 6th Ave.). Registration begins at 9 a.m.
The free seminar will provide individual help for those who have mortgage payments that are increasing, are worried about losing their home or can’t afford their home loan. This is a great opportunity for those facing tough times to learn their legal rights and options.
Attendees are encouraged to bring photo identification and home loan documents, since certified mortgage counselors and loan modification representatives will be available to discuss what mortgage options are suitable.
